We are thrilled to announce the official kick-off of the newest initiative dedicated to advancing marine bioprospection – the EUREMAP project! EUREMAP aims to establish a comprehensive pipeline of advanced research services, poised to revolutionise the discovery of new marine products. The powerhouse team of experts in marine bioprospection, screening, and biodata analysis is the core of EUREMAP. It is built through a collaborative effort that unites four major European research infrastructures: EMBL, EU-OPENSCREEN, EMBRC – European Marine Biological Resource Centre, and ELIXIR.

The kick-off meeting, held in the busy city of Naples and hosted by Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn and Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche, brought together over 30 experts representing all partners across Europe, and beyond, to strategize the future of marine resource discovery.

For two intense days, our team engaged in a dynamic exchange of ideas and discussions focused on enabling state-of-the-art research and capacity building in marine bioprospecting for both academia and industry. Each work package leader presented their plans and contributions to the project and the discussions centred on innovative strategies to establish our research pipeline and harness cutting-edge technologies and expertise.
